Fashion Loves as of Lately: Fashion Shows, Photoshoots, and Playing Dress-Up

Boy OH boy, the world of fashion. If you ever told me that I would enthusiastically attend fashion shows and participate in photoshoots for magazines and taking much more care in my sense of style, I would have GAWKED in your face. Still, here we are with countless in the bag!

Growing up, I have always adored fashion. My free time comprised of me drawing characters and thinking more creatively when it came to their clothes. I never wanted my characters to wear plain old T-shirts or anything too ordinary. At the very least, a unique collar, a pattern, a headpiece, I’d add something imaginative. Eventually, I loved window shopping, using my food science knowledge to learn more about polymer science in sustainable clothing materials.

While I never found myself gravitated towards modeling full-time or being a fashion designer, I am obsessed with fashion as an art form and a means of expression. I’ve also met magnificent people into modeling, designing, photography, event coordination, and social media–networking for the win!

To no one’s dismay, revisiting my love for fashion since my early wee-infant days has transformed my life. There is so much joy and delight I experience when dressing up and taking on events and opportunities where I can put myself out there in the fashion world to network and spectate. Moreover, nurturing my wardrobe and how I carry myself through my clothing has found to be healing. I love the way I show up now–more secure as a woman who is naturally very feminine and loves being feminine. Yes, I have days where I don’t feel like over-dressing as if I’m an off-duty model and we can take them as they come, especially when it’ll be more exhausting for you.

The most drastic shift I’ve discovered is a change in energy and how the rest of my metamorphosis has played out. Rejection isn’t as daunting as it used to be as a possibility or a reality. Other people’s opinions aren’t as loud. My horizon has expanded (now I want to be on a magazine cover, plus New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week are my DREAM events!) beyond what I thought was feasible. More importantly, I feel a TON better about myself and respect myself as such. So, I highly encourage you that you revisit a hobby or art form you used to enjoy as a kid. You never know how impactful it could be in your healing and elevation.
