These are all of the questions I get asked frequently in real life and online. I hope all of these responses help, and feel free to contact me on social media @superfitbabe or email me at superfitbabe@gmail.com!

  1. Height? Currently 5’5″
  2. Ethnicity? Vietnamese
  3. How old are you? Eighteen years-young 🙂
  4. What do you typically eat in a day?
    1. Breakfast: smoothie bowl with vegan protein fluff, nana ice cream, oatmeal, homemade pancakes made of oatmeal/protein powder/coconut flour, sweet potatoes, tofu scrambles, vegan curry, sweet potato kabocha pudding, or sweet potato with any of these cereals!
    2. Lunch: various salads with lots of leafy greens, vegetables, healthy fats, protein and grains with a fresh dressing, smoothie bowl with vegan protein fluff, veggie stir-fries, curry, vegetable soups, vegan poke bowls, vegan tacos, veggie seaweed or spring rolls, tofu scrambles,
    3. Snacks: Nuts (mainly almonds or pistachios), vegetables with hummus or guacamole, sweet potatoes with nut butter and fruit preserves spread on each side, cereal, or dark chocolate with a little peanut or almond butter! I’ve been embracing eating more whole foods for snacks, but I do love some amazing vegan packaged snacks–here are my favorites thus far: Rise barsKIND barsLARAbarsPureFit bars, SIMPLE Squares, No Cow Bars, or a protein shake made with Vega, Orgain, PlantFusion, etc.
    4. Dinner: basically anything in the lunch category!
    5. Dessert: high quality dark chocolate, sweet potatoes with nut butter, nana ice cream, Greek yogurt with Stevia, nut butter and cinnamon, or any one of these cereals!
  5. Fitness routine? I rotate between spinning, kickboxing/boxing, jiu-jitsu, running, Pilates, weight-lifting, Tabata and circuit HIIT training at minimum 45-70 minutes a day, 6-7 days a week.
  6. Favorite food? (in random order) Curry, kabocha, sweet potatoes/yams (mainly Japanese yams, Hannah sweet potatoes, and Okinawan sweet potatoes) peaches, berries, smoothies, “nice cream”, cauliflower, fish, organic TVP, kale, spinach, tofu, quinoa, oatmeal, almonds, peanuts, nut butter, high quality dark chocolate, squash, broccoli, eggplant, tomatoes, cinnamon, mushrooms, beans, peppers, lentils, basil and green tea!
  7. Favorite “cheat” food? Vegan gelato, Cafe Gratitude pastries and Lenny and Larry’s cookies
  8. How do I lose weight/belly fat? In my opinion, losing weight and losing belly fat are two different things. You can lose water weight or muscle mass on a weight loss journey, but you can gain muscle mass while losing belly fat. Everyone is different, but in general, drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep, eat clean 80-90% of the time, exercise according to your body type (make sure to do exercises that you enjoy and switch it up to shock your body and speed up progress!) and don’t stress out too much!
  9. Are you vegan/HCLF/Paleo/HFLC/what exactly are you? I don’t really emphasize a label on my diet, but I am currently eating a completely vegan, plant-based diet.
  10. How do you find motivation/willpower? Motivation and willpower are not the same thing. Motivation is what gets you started, and willpower is what keeps you going. Before you look at these tips, read my post about willpower here and why it is not always the key to success. 1) Ask yourself why you started and imagine how wonderful the feeling will be after you accomplish your goals! 2) Always love yourself no matter what. Even if you mess up or hit a plateau, just remember you’re doing your best and keep going because every day is a new chance to take one step ahead. 3) Read others’ stories and find inspiration from their background, their action plan and their results. I find this better than “fitspiration” because it’s much more realistic, but there is nothing wrong with looking at “fitspo” pics once in a while! 4) Find support from your family, friends and even people online! You’ll be surprised as to how many people in the world there are that share the same problems and passions as you! 5) Take action of your surroundings–get rid of triggers and anything you would binge on, utilize at-home/no-equipment workouts if needed, and find the most accessible resources that can help you!
  11. Who are your biggest inspirations? I have so many that it would take a very long time to list all of them, but these are the people who have had the biggest impact on my personal health journey both prior, during and after my blog: my mother, Cassey Ho of Blogilates, Karena and Katrina of Tone it Up, Christine Bullock, Kayla Itsines, and Lorna Jane!

  1. Your regimen is super impressive! How wonderful that you are leading this healthy lifestyle at just 18 years old. Unfortunately, most people start eating healthy a lot later in life or not at all. I started at 24 and never looked back… and never felt better! That’s actually part of the reason why I co-created my self-improvement blog. ^_^ It’s nice to see that you’re sharing your health wisdom with the world as well!

You say you’re in transition to vegetarianism and then to veganism… I’m in the same boat as you, but it’s been rough because I have all sorts of food intolerances (mostly grains and dairy)… restricting my diet even further makes me anxious.

I wish you all the best!
