But seriously, this year’s Vegan Street Fair yesterday was absolutely incredible! I didn’t see too many famous Instagrammers or YouTubers aside from the ones I already met in the past vegan events, so this post will focus a bit more on the food aspects of the event. Hey, I don’t see anything wrong with that!

There were a TON of vendors to choose from, so I decided to play it mostly by ear and see what sounded good in the moment!

First stop: Cocobella Creamery! Cocobella is essentially a 100% vegan ice cream shop based in Los Angeles that has a massive variety of ice cream flavors, including unicorn dream, cookie dough, s’mores, black sesame, cookies n’ creme, salted caramel, blueberry cheesecake, coffee, chocolate, and a bunch of other amazing favorites! They also create customizeable ice cream cakes, floats, and sundaes!

I got two scoops, one sunbutter cup and the other mint chip! Both were soy-based ice creams that tasted HEAVENLY. Best part? Both of them had chocolate. Who doesn’t like chocolate?!

My sweet tooth just had a serious ego boost (yes, my sweet tooth has an ego), so it decided that it wanted something a bit more epic or crazy, if you will. I continued walking farther down the fair and found Stoner Girl Treats and Eats, who I also met at the Central Coast VegFest! They are a Central Californian vegan baking service that specializes in gluten free, GMO free, and sometimes edible pastries!

Stoner Girl’s highlight menu item was their unicorn waffle ice cream sandwich. I could NOT pass that up. The result was a colorful, fluffy, airy, and SUPER soft and sweet waffle with soy vanilla ice cream and rainbow sprinkles! They also had coconut chocolate or strawberry ice cream to select. Hands down, my favorite dessert item at the street fair! Or is it a breakfast item? I’m not sure, but it was FREAKING FABULOUS. 10/10. My inner unicorn was ignited, indeed!

Someone was really kind and agreed to take a picture of me with the waffle! I tried to bite into it, but I definitely did not look pretty while doing so. How do you make eating look attractive, I’ll never know.

Taking a break from sweets, my main meal consisted of a twelve-inch pizza from Urbn Pizza! This San Diego-based catering service had three vegan pizzas to pick from, but I went with the heavy vegetable pizza that had spinach, mushrooms, onions, vegan mozzarella, and a flavorful red sauce over a rustic roasted thin crust!

While Urbn Pizza is not entirely vegan in itself, they have a lot of vegan options on their catering menu. This pizza had one of the best crusts I’ve EVER tasted. In fact, it is THE BEST pizza crust I have ever tasted!

Despite becoming a bit full in the middle of eating, I finished every bite. So worth it, and no morsel went to waste! Not gonna lie, this was the majority of my vegetable intake for the whole day. SUE ME.

After a mini-break from the pizza, I passed by the Veganation booth, looked on their menu, and found that they were serving vegan ribs. I was sold, so I had to snag an order! Veganation is another catering service that delivers across Santa Clara County, San Jose, and many others in California. They are entirely plant based and organic as well!

In my little dish were garlic herb fries and applewood smoked vegan ribs! The ribs were coated in the perfect amount of sauce and tasted tender in certain areas, charred on some sides, and sweet and spicy all over. The fries were just okay, so I had to find another booth and top them with ketchup to add more flavor.

Later, I had to stop by the Vegetaryn booth and see their clothing! Vegetaryn is one of my favorite vegan clothing brands that specializes in vegan-themed merchandise, including shirts, sweaters, bags, stickers, and buttons! I love them a ton and have several of their shirts.

Before you ask, no, this is not my entire order from Donut Friend. This was just a display case of the flavors they had at the fair. But yes, I did stop by their booth and waited fifteen minutes for my order. Was it worth it? Absolutely! Donut Friend has to be the most popular donut shop in Los Angeles. Located in Highland Park, they boast a CRAZY selection of vegan donuts that are filled, raised, frosted, glazed, and/or loaded with crazy toppings and even ice cream!

Since I couldn’t decide on a large donut, I went with three of their mini flavors for a lighter fare! My final choices were the green tea matcha, compassionfruit guava with cacao nibs, and caramel assault with sea salt.

Once tasting all of them, I concluded that the caramel assault was my favorite since it had the strongest flavor and sweet and salty combination that I enjoyed. Green tea matcha came in second because it had a nice contrast of mild sweetness, and the compassionfruit guava was the last, even though it’s still BOMB. I personally am not the biggest fan of fruit-flavored treats (except for sorbets), but the compassionfruit guava donut was amazing regardless! Overall, highly recommend Donut Friend in general!

OH MY GOODNESS, this is where my dreams came true. Dancing with cows, or a happy cow. Yes guys, I danced with THE happy cow from Happy Cow. Anyways, most of you know of Happy Cow, which is a website that identifies all vegan-friendly and vegetarian-friendly restaurants and shops in any designated location. You don’t have to do any hard work yourself. Just go online to Happy Cow, type in any location (whether it be your current one or a future travel destination), and watch the vegan options flow.

 

All in all, my experience at Vegan Street Fair was a success! While I didn’t eat as much variety for this event, I still had such amazing food. I’d rather invest in a few high-quality and more satisfying meals such as the pizza and waffle sandwich than a bunch of sub-par bite-size treats. I will be attending VegFest L.A. (which is TODAY, so watch for pictures!) and Eat Drink Vegan this year, so stay tuned for those recaps!
