Bhu Foods Review: Chocolate Chip + Double Chocolate Chip Protein Cookies

Remember my old blog review of the Bhu Foods protein bars? Well Bhu is back, but with some even more epic products. There are times when you don’t want a protein bar. You want dessert.

Low and behold, Bhu Foods now has cookies! But these aren’t ordinary cookies. They are gluten free, organic, vegan, ketogenic, and are almost sugar free! You’ve seen my mind-blowing experience on my YouTube taste test with the Bhu Foods cookies, but I’m finally going in-depth with the review of these new delicacies, so let’s get right into it!

So far, the cookies come in two flavors: chocolate chip and double dark chocolate chip. Pretty self-explanatory, and you can’t really go wrong with either flavor! Each cookie contains 200 calories, 16 grams of fat (7 being saturated), 16 grams of carbohydrates, 8 grams of fiber, 0 grams of sugar, and 10 grams of protein! Note that these cookies may be labeled ketogenic, but everyone processes carbohydrates and fiber differently, so net carbs will vary amongst person to person.

Oh, and did I mention that these cookies contain no artificial sweeteners, sugar, soy, dairy, eggs, wheat, or GMOs? Isn’t that insane?

First, let’s begin with everyone’s favorite chocolate chip cookie. Upon opening the bag, I was awestruck by the cookie’s shape, composition, color, and slightly sweet and nutty scent like a real cookie! You can most certainly believe that I was even more struck upon tasting it. And I quote myself directly: “No. Words.”

Texture-wise, you can definitely taste the cashews that give the cookie its binding mouthfeel, but it still retains a pleasantly smooth, soft, and chewy structure. The dough is not too sweet, and the chocolate chunks are silky and rich, hence complementing the cookie base perfectly!

OVERALL: LOVED this cookie to bits and pieces…….all of which are eaten, of course.

The second and final flavor is the double dark chocolate protein cookie, which contains chocolate chunks as well, but has a strong, dark, and pungent chocolate base. I’ll save the extra space of this post by stating that the overall shape and appearance of the cookie is the same as well as ingredients and nutritional information, but of course, this will contain more cocoa powder. Nothing wrong with more chocolate!

The texture and composition are the same, but the extra richness of the dark chocolate base just elevates the cookie even more, which I absolutely love! But, if you’re more of a basic babe or bro, then the chocolate chip cookie will be your better bet.

OVERALL: Chocolate chips with more chocolate…need I say more?

CONCLUSION

Truthfully speaking, after eating these cookies for a time span, they tasted a little less like the conventional supermarket or TollHouse cookies that you find at any bakery. On the other hand, for being a protein cookie, it taste quite close. The texture definitely has an acquired density and stickiness that you won’t find in most cookies that have some sort of wheat flour or glutenous ingredients, which I totally don’t mind at all, and I actually find quite satiating because chewing time is longer.

It’s incredibly difficult to pick which flavor is my favorite, because I really do love both of these cookies so much! I’ll fairly say that it depends on my mood. In general, I’ll rotate between the two flavors–the chocolate chip cookie suits me more whenever I’ve had something really overpowering and I need a cleansing palette, whereas the double dark chocolate cookie will add that extra oomph to conclude a night of meal prep and such. You can also feel satisfied after one cookie pretty easily, but they taste incredible with some nut butter, vegan ice cream, hot chocolate, a glass of non-dairy milk, or even on top of porridge or a smoothie!

In short, I am so utterly impressed by the Bhu Foods community once again, and I am amazed at their hard work, their positivity, and their growth! Seriously, I see their products almost everywhere I go, and I’m stoked about that.

Thank you for taking the time to read this review, hope you enjoyed it, and be sure to let me know if you’ve ever tried these products or what other brands you recommend I explore! Until then, I’ll be waiting for the next sale so I can get more cookies…
