25 Questions for Foodies Tag

When will I ever stop with the tags? It’s a trick question: whenever the heck I feel like it. Otherwise, not anytime soon.

As you can see by the title, I have yet completed another foodie-related tag and questionnaire to share with all of you guys! To be totally transparent, I am such a sucker for answering fun questions like these, because they really get me to think and find excitement in creating answers. I wasn’t active enough on social media to partake in tags when they were trendy, but I’m up for maintaining certain traditions.
Yet again, nobody has tagged me in this fun little list of questions, but I decided to take initiative and answer them anyway, plus it gives me the chance to tag all of you guys and learn what your food favorites are! There are a total of 25 questions in this list, and my answers are relatively short and sweet–unless if I have a list, of course!
I have tagged several of my close friends who also have blogs at the end of this post to answer these questions, but of course, it really means I tag everybody who is reading this. Without further ago, let’s get into these questions! Because, who doesn’t love taking about food while looking at food?

1. What’s your favorite breakfast?
  • I’m definitely all about my sweet potato plates! Just look at my Instagram and you’ll see that’s the truth. However, I am just so in love with breakfast that I could eat a million other things: cereal, curry, tofu scrambles, waffles, protein pancakes, oats or porridge, smoothie bowls, or Buddha bowls!
2. How do you drink your coffee?
  • Can’t say I’m a true coffee lover! However, I love my occasional seasonal pumpkin spice or matcha almond milk lattes!

3. What’s on your favorite sandwich?
  • Grilled eggplant, caramelized onions, roasted red bell pepper, mushrooms, tempeh, tofu or seitan, arugula, avocado, beet hummus, and alfalfa sprouts sandwiched in whole grain sourdough! Or, just as pictured, sandwiched in between a split sweet potato. 😉

4. Soup or salad?
  • Ooh, that’s a toughie! I’m such a sucker for warming, comforting and spicy vegetable soups, but I never fail to enjoy a hearty and freshly made salad full of dark greens, quinoa, avocado, zesty dressing and sweet garnishes! I guess that it really depends on my mood and the season. If it’s a bright and sunny day by the beach, then I’m a salad babe for sure.

5. What’s your favorite cookbook?
  • Another toughie! It’s been a really long time since I’ve taken the time to sit down and formally read a cookbook, as most of my recipes come from blogs or YouTube videos! However, as recapped in my birthday week post, my roommate was so kind to give me the Forks Over Knives cookbook as a gift, and while I haven’t gotten the chance to whip something up in my L.A. home kitchen or my apartment kitchen, I’ve been loving the look of each recipe ever since! I’m stoked to make everything, especially their oil free ratatouille, Indian-spiced eggplant and walnut brownies! In addition, my friend Arman has a new desserts cookbook coming out this season, and I’m confident that it will be my new favorite cookbook. 😉

6. No more sweets or no more hearty foods?
  • Assuming that by hearty foods, this question means dishes like mac n’ cheese, pot roasts, burgers, or any comfort food that our extended relatives and great grandparents used to make, then I’d say I’ll have to keep the sweets! As much as I’d miss a hot pizza, I think I would die without my chocolates and ice cream!

7. What’s your favorite cuisine?
  • If I haven’t emphasized this enough, then I will do so again: Indian and Thai all the way! They rotate depending on my mood, but I could seriously live off of these cuisines for life.

8. What’s your favorite food movie?
  • For cooking, then Chef, hands down. The way the food is concocted and presented in each scene along with the cinematography, clip editing, sound editing and overall mood setting of each cooking scene is a masterpiece. Regarding health, then definitely Forks Over Knives, Food Inc., and Supersize Me, because all of these documentaries are very informative, intriguing and well-structured to present their cases regarding the importance of whole foods and the sources of those foods.

9. What’s your most guilty pleasure?
  • Gobbling nut butter with a spoon straight out of the jar and sprinkling cereal and granola on top of each bite. Finishing all the lettuce in a salad before digging into other toppings. Saving sweet potato skins for last. Asking for my food to be made extra extra extra spicy and spreading Sriracha right on top afterwards. Taking thirty photos of my meal before eating it. Using up an entire box of napkins to clean my hands while eating lettuce wraps (hey, that ish is MESSY!).

10. What is your greatest inspiration source?
  • Blogs, YouTube channels, Instagram accounts, Food Network, the Cooking Channel, and other websites pertaining to food, health, cooking and wellness! My mother is also one of my biggest cooking inspirations too. Without her skills, I never would have found breakfast curry!

11. Cooking at home or going out for dinner?
  • Generally depends on my mood, but I have to balance out the two. If I’m with friends, feel like splurging on something new or even just feel like dressing up a bit, then hands down I’m out the door. Whenever I feel tired, overwhelmed, or if the weather is pretty drab, I stay home and create a good, warm dinner.

12. High end or low profile?
  • Again, a healthy mix of both. I absolutely love high end restaurants because they often have the most beautiful aesthetics, incredible ambiences, and make for wonderful pictures and recaps. However, I also avidly support locals by shedding light on the hidden gems!

13. What is your favorite restaurant?
  • This could be a whole ‘nother blog post in itself, but I’ll just list out my top twenty (in no particular order): Streets of India, Cafe Gratitude, Vinh Loi Tofu, Bliss Cafe, Big Sky Cafe, Shalimar, Thai Classic, Rahel’s Ethiopian Vegan Cuisine, Veggie Grill, Garden Wok, VeStation, Follow Your Heart cafe, Real Food Daily, Anarbagh Indian Cuisine, Govinda’s Natural Foods buffet, Yoga-Urt, Whole Foods for their hot bars, NYC restaurants Beyond Sushi and Hu Kitchen, and Pressed Juicery for their freeze!

Um, that’s not what I meant when I said “extra protein”.
14. I do my grocery shopping at:
  • If in college: on-campus markets, the farmer’s market downtown, Trader Joe’s, or online!
  • If at home: Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Ralph’s, FarmBoy, Asian supermarkets, anywhere local!

20. What is on your pizza?
  • Tomatoes, basil, cilantro, eggplant, bell peppers, mushrooms, artichokes, caramelized onions, a fresh marinara sauce or a green pesto, and LOTS of chili flakes. Thin crust, if you please.

21. What food do you really dislike?
  • Pickles, olives, licorice, taffy, corn, and sauces that taste like pure salt water. Oh yeah, and green juice with no fruit also tastes like Satan’s piss.

All of them have inspired me in some way, whether in my beginning blog days or much later.

23. What is the weirdest things you have ever eaten?
  • If we’re not going to count my ant diet that I followed when I was two years-old, it’s Sriracha on pancakes. Let’s just say this was a complete accident since my veggie omelet thought it was a good idea to touch my coconut chocolate chip pancakes. NEVER. AGAIN.

24. What is on your food bucket list?
  • Non-dairy Ben and Jerry’s, anything from Gracias Madre, vegan orange chicken, chocolate sapote, vegan pad thai, Rawberri Cocowhip, a vegan benedict, vegan churros, and any dessert made with beans! Basically, anything on my Yelp bookmarks.
