I’m so glad that I finally got my hands on this Vega protein powder, because I’ve been wanting to try it for the LONGEST TIME EVER. I finally got a sample chocolate packet at Sprouts for a pretty good price a few weekends ago, and I was so excited since Vega tends to be a bit on the pricier side where I can find it. Anyways, I got the Performance Protein packet because the other ones were only available in vanilla, and as you know, I hate vanilla protein powders. I only eat them if I add in cocoa or cacao powder to mask the mediciney taste.
As you can see, the Vega Performance Protein powder has completely all natural ingredients, is gluten free, vegan, non-GMO, soy free, dairy free, and really impressive with macros. Never have I ever seen another vegan protein powder with 30 grams of protein–that is way more than the average vegan protein powder and even more than some dairy or egg white-based proteins!
Not gonna lie, I was a bit scared about the texture of the protein due to looking at other reviews complaining about the grittiness, but I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out in my chocolate purple sweet potato kabocha pudding and my two-ingredient protein frosting! There was no grittiness at all! The protein made the pudding SUPER thick and creamy, plus leaving it in the fridge helps it to expand in the bowl and make it even bigger and thicker. Same goes for the frosting–I only needed a few tablespoons and got the perfect consistency!
Finished product with toppings, frosting and everything! This is HANDS DOWN the most gorgeous chocolate purple sweet potato kabocha pudding I’ve EVER made!
The texture is lovely, the taste is really chocolatey and sweet on its own–hence why I didn’t need an extra sweetener for the pudding–all along with really awesome macros and ingredients. This is definitely a super healthy protein!
To be absolutely honest, I found no cons that would be a huge deal. But looking at where it’s sold both online and in stores, it’s a bit pricey, so I’d purchase with a coupon code or during a sale.
This has to be one of my FAVORITE vegan protein powders that I’ve tried thus far! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it to anyone, whether vegan or not. I would definitely invest in this more often since I am looking to gradually cut out more dairy to help my lactose intolerance. Anyways, please go to Vega’s website to check out this protein, plus they have a ton of other varieties of proteins, including a Proteins + Greens supplement line that includes even more vitamins and minerals in every serving! Hope you enjoyed this review because I love this product so so much and comment below if you’ve ever tried it or if you have any other uses for it since I would love to know what other awesome recipes I can make with this protein. I will definitely be using it in the future when I can find it!
