Coconut Avocado Remedy

Lately I’ve been loving the combo of coconut and avocados together. They are so complementary like peanut butter and jelly. Wait a minute, do you think I mean they’re complementary to eat? No silly! For your skin!

Of course, you will reap even more benefits by eating the foods. Coconut oil is a different story, but face it, no one wants to eat a brown avocado. So in honor of Earth Day, stop wasting your brown avos and follow this DIY! But honestly, I’ll love this even after Earth Day. It’s so fun to make!

The texture of the avocado is very hydrating and its monounsaturated fats will help keep your skin youthful and glowing. Believe it or not, it actually has the same protective properties as sunscreen! Coconut oil is another insane powerhouse. It can be used as makeup remover, lotion, hair shiner, mouthwash, moisturizer, etc. Pretty much you can take away every beauty product you have in your house and replace it with coconut oil. Then again, how overwhelming would it be to have thirty coconut oil jars in your bathroom?

So why did I make this? I was getting ready for a shower when I suddenly realized I was out of my Shiseido facial cleanser. Food was my only other option. I found this mask recipe on several sites and adjusted it to my needs. Didn’t have honey, didn’t want to waste my Greek yogurt, and did want to get rid of some multigrain oats (that is until someone says that putting gluten on your skin is harmful!). This mask turned out to be completely vegan and totally worth the mess!

A few minutes later to fabulous skin! I even used some on my arms and they were smooth like buttah.

Also, I’m not trying to advertise that I have perfect skin and such, because I don’t! I’m just pleased with the way my complexion turned out after the first trial. This is a great way to use up browned avocados, leftover oatmeal and coconut oil, and to also save money with eco-friendly beauty remedies!
