How to Ripen Bananas in 30 Minutes

Pop quiz: when do bananas taste the best? The answer is not yellow, brown and it’s definitely not green (eew). It’s black!

All raw vegans emphasize to eat spotty, speckled bananas, and they’re right! Nutrients are at their pinnacles when bananas are overripe. Plus no one likes a flavorless naner. But what if you really need a ripe one and can’t wait for two weeks? Use your oven!

PROCEDURE

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F.
  2. Place your unripe bananas in the oven and time for 25-30 minutes. Depending on the size of your naners you may have to bake them for shorter or longer.
  3. Once they are soft and very very dark brown, almost black, take them out of the oven and let cool completely before using, especially if putting into a food processor or blender.

Your naners will be steaming hot when you unpeel them and they will smell amazing! They will be very soft too. I like to use them as a sub for butter in pastries or in my protein pancakes! If you see a little bit of liquid coming out, that’s fine, it is just the natural juices. And don’t forget to use a mitten when taking them out! They are incredibly hot. I learned the hard way :\

You can’t buy love but you can buy bananas. I think that’s close enough 😉

Lots of bananas,

Cassie
